Patients, family members, or friends of the patient who have limited English proficiency (LEP) need an interpreter.
Limited English Proficiency: A person with limited English proficiency is limited in his or her ability to understand, speak, write, or read English.
Hearing Impairment: Patients who are deaf need an interpreter. See Sign Languages.
