Chester B. Good, MD
On June 2nd 2006 the CEQS and the VA were proud to sponsor the first annual visiting professor. C. Bernie Good, MD, MPH has served as a primary care physician at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System since 1986. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pharmacy and member of the Center for Research on Health Care at the University of Pittsburgh, and a core faculty member of the VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Dr. Good has served as chairperson for the Medical Advisory Panel for Pharmacy Benefits Management for VA since 1999, the group charged with overseeing the VA national pharmacy benefit. He is co-director of the VA Center for Medication Safety, and is a member of the VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines Council. Dr. Good serves on many other national VA committees. Most recently in 2006, he was honored with the prestigious Mark Walcott Award for Excellence in Clinical Care Leadership for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
 
Because of his work with VA, Dr. Good has a national reputation in the area of pharmacy benefits and drug safety. He is a member of the FDA Drug Oversight Board, and is also a Technical Advisor to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Areas of research interest include pharmacy benefits management, cost-effective use of pharmaceuticals, drug safety, and racial disparities in the provision of medical care
